Product Description

Nearly every shop and workplace in the country has a utility knife and single-edge scraper or box-cutter. Despite the fact that most people are familiar with these tools and comfortable using them, these tools must always be used with care. Remember these are blades, and blades are designed to cut! Whenever a blade is being used there is a risk of injury. Keep these three tips in mind when using either a utility blade or a single-edge blade and reduce the chance of injury.

• 100 Single Edge Razor blades in a box
• .009 Thick
• For Industrial and Professional Use
• Fits all standard handles and scrapers

1. Pay attention!: Careless, inattentive, or improper use of a utility knife or scraper can quickly result in a serious injury. To avoid finding out exactly how quick, focus on what you are doing, don’t try to carry on a conversation while working, and if you are otherwise distracted stop working until you can refocus on the job at hand.

2. Use the right tool for the job: Repeat this to yourself: Hammers are for striking, screwdrivers are for driving fasteners, pliers are for clamping and razor blades are for cutting & scraping. Although it is tempting to use them otherwise, remember a knife or scraper are not a pry bar, a screwdriver, an awl, or a hammer. While razor blades are versatile, each blade is designed to do specific work. Ensure your job is done well and finished safely by picking the right tool & blade for the job, and resisting the urge to use your knife or scraper as multipurpose tools.

3. Hold it tight & work with care: To safely use a blade of any kind it is critically important to ensure that you have a secure grip on the tool. Having a firm hold reduces stress on the hand and lessens the chance of the tool or your hand accidentally slipping, With the tool firmly in your grasp heed these safety tips:

• Always cut / scrape in a direction away from your body
• Give yourself some space. You don’t want anyone working close enough that your slip could result in their injury.
• Secure your work piece and make sure it is properly lit
• Check your blade. A dull or damaged blade is a dangerous blade. If you are unsure whether your blade is dull or not, remember this - when in doubt, take it out! You will never regret replacing a used blade with a new one.
• Place your free hand away from the blade and behind the direction of the cut or scrape.
• FOCUS! – don’t get distracted.
• Always wear protection…for your eyes.
• Clean-up when you are done and recheck the blade. If the blade is worn out, nicked, bent or otherwise finished remove and properly dispose it.

Last but certainly not least, if you remember nothing else – remember this:
When in doubt, take it out. A new blade is a safer blade.
